Home Remedies for Typhoid | Typhoid Fever Symptoms, Treatment

Fortunately, localized incidents of typhoid are rare in the United States of America. However, people are exposed to the typhoid causing bacteria, when they travel to places, where typhoid is prevalent, such as some countries in Asia, Africa and South America. Therefore, immunization before traveling is very important. Strict hygienic measures should be taken in order to prevent the disease. This is because typhoid fever symptoms are severe and could lead to a lot of pain and discomfort for about 4 weeks or so. That is how long it takes for the typhoid fever treatment to reduce the symptoms, which keep getting worse, with each passing week. In case a person is exposed to typhoid fever on a trip, it is imperative to go for a check up immediately. If the diagnosis is confirmed then typhoid fever treatment should begin without any delay.

In spite of the fact that the only effective form of typhoid fever treatment is antibiotic therapy, there are some people who use home remedies for typhoid for additional comfort. These home remedies for typhoid do not help in directly curing the condition, but can only help control the symptoms to some extent. Some of the home remedies for typhoid are:

This remedy should only be used in case the fever exceeds 102 degrees F.Drink a lot of water, to flush the toxins out of the body. Orange juice contains vitamin C which helps the body fight off bacteria. Add some orange juice to warm water and drink it a few times a day. Drinking hot water with honey mixed in it can also be beneficial. When the patient can stomach some light solid foods, a ripe, mashed banana mixed with a tablespoon of honey should be consumed twice a day.
